Introduction to Computers and Computer Vocabulary

 

Objectives:

The learner will correctly identify, spell and pronounce parts of a computer work station.

bullet

The learner will correctly verbalize commands using "point to" "click on," "go to," "push" and "find."

Duration:

 

     2 hours

Computer skills assessment inventory

bullet

Computer work station
Unit vocabulary sheet

Activities:

 

  1. Learners take the computer skills assessment inventory.

  2. Teacher models expectations by identifying parts of computer using workstation vocabulary, flashcards and commands.

  3. Learners identify parts of computer using vocabulary and commands through uses of substitution drill.

  4. Paired learners write names of parts of the computer and place them at correct locations at workstation.

 

Assessment:

 

Teacher conducts chain drill using computer component flash cards, making notes of learner progress.
