Learners:

Teacher
introduces prepositions of time and place by telling learners, "You
came to class tonight. Our class meets at the Literacy
Volunteers office on Mondays and Wednesdays in the evening.
Our office is on Williamson Road. We begin class at 7:00
p.m." Teacher reveals introductory statement on sentence strip,
tapes it to a wall or white board, and underlines the prepositions of time
and place. Teacher asks learners, "How do we know when to say "at,"
"on," and "in?" Teacher comments on learner responses.

Teacher
distributes Common Prepositions #1 reference sheet. Class starts with
prepositions of time, completing a substitution drill followed by a
response
drill with "at" before progressing to "on" and
"in." All students should have the opportunity to respond
individually at least once to each drill.

Learners
complete first section of Practice with Prepositions #1 worksheet. Learners
share answers for nos. 1-10 as a class; exchange papers with another learner
to review nos. 1-6.

Teacher
refers again to Common Prepositions #1 reference sheet, this time focusing
on prepositions of place. Class follows same sequence as with prepositions
of time.

Learners
complete second section of Practice with Prepositions worksheet. Learners
share answers for nos. 1-10 as a class; exchange papers with another learner
to review nos. 1-6

Learners
share each other's sentences with class.

Learners
complete Copy and Paste computer activity for prepositions of time.
High-Intermediate Learners:

to Computers and Computer Vocabulary (30-60 minutes each evening).

Assessment:
High-Beginning and Low-Intermediate
Learners:
Teacher monitors quality of verbal responses providing correction where
necessary, evaluates written responses.
High-Intermediate Learners:
Teacher observes learner progress,
making note of problem areas and providing correction and additional
practice as required.
