Introduction to Computers and Computer-related Tasks

Objectives:

bullet

The learner will review the parts of a computer workstation.

bullet

The learner will identify a noun, a verb, an article and a personal pronoun in simple sentences.

bullet

The learner will conjugate the simple past and present tenses of the verbs "point," "click," "go," "find," "have", "be."

bullet

The learner will define lesson vocabulary.

Activities:

 

High-Beginning and Low-Intermediate Learners:

  1. Teacher conducts chain drill using computer component flash cards.

  2. Teacher provides conjugated verbs to whole class using conjugation sheet.

  3. Learners conjugate verbs using completion drill activity.

  4. Learners choose 5 sentence strips each and identify nouns, verbs, articles and personal pronouns. 

  5. Learners pair up and share/correct answers.

  6. Learners share answers with class

High-Intermediate Learners:

 

   Continue "Using Computers to Find Information" (final 2 hours)

 

Assessment:

 

High-Beginning and Low-Intermediate Learners: Students choose five computer flashcards and write five sentence strips of their own using computer vocabulary and verbs (three past, two present), and identifying the parts of speech in each sentence.

 

High-IntermediateLearners: Refer to assessment in "Using Computers to Find Information."
