Activities:

Teacher
reviews present perfect continuous tense by conducting
response drill using impromptu questions
requiring responses in the present perfect continuous tense, plus the correct use of "for" and "since." For
example, "How long have you been working at your present job?"
"I have been working at my present job for two years."

Teacher
reviews vocabulary and work-related phrases from Looking for Work #1 using flashcards, and
samples of employment section of classified ads, job application and
"Help Wanted" sign where appropriate. Teacher models full body
response as appropriate to define phrases. Learners practice pronunciation
and respond with full body response where appropriate.

Learners
listen while teacher reads Maria Marcus' Story (twice if necessary).
Learners complete Playing with Story Language, then read responses to a
partner and compare answers. Learners take turns reading complete story to
their partner.

Teacher
introduces Have You Been Looking for Work activity. Two learners model the
example dialogue. Individual learners write a dialogue using a page from the
employment classified ads. Learner pairs compare and critique dialogues and
take turns saying each.

Learner
pairs exchange dialogues with another pair and repeat.
Assessment:
Teacher corrects Playing with Story Language, monitors quality of verbal and written
components of dialogues.
