Activities:
-
Teacher
asks learners if there is a park in their neighborhood, then directs
learners to list the activities they think of when they think about
parks. Teacher writes responses on the board. Teacher explains that
today's lesson will take them to the park.
-
Teacher
distributes the
At the Park worksheet and projects the transparency
on the wall. Learners complete Part A of the worksheet. Teacher allows
time for identification of unfamiliar terms.
-
Teacher
selects a learner to read the instructions to Part B and learners
complete. Same procedure for Part C. Teacher assists where necessary.
-
Teacher
assigns pairs based upon same ability levels; learners complete Part D.
-
Learners
read and pronounce aloud vocabulary in Part E and identify unfamiliar
terms. Learners define terms as a class; teacher assists where
necessary.
-
Teacher
assigns mixed-ability pairs and learners complete Part F, reading the
dialogue at least three times.
-
Mixed-ability
pairs choose an option in Part G and complete.
-
Learner
pairs read/perform dialogues in front of the class.
Assessment:
Teacher monitors verbal and written responses of individual learners;
evaluates and records score on final dialogue.
